Is this teaching biblical?
Howard-Browne claims he cursed the Zika virus and it disappeared from Florida. The Zika outbreak declined globally due to natural immunity cycles and mosquito control efforts, not because a preacher in Tampa cursed it. Taking credit for natural disease cycles is exactly the kind of false prophecy Deuteronomy warns about — claiming God did something through you that He did not command. This is the pattern of false prophets throughout history: making bold claims that cannot be verified or falsified.
What did Rodney Howard-Browne say?
"We cursed that thing in the name of Jesus and Zika disappeared."

What does Scripture actually teach?
Deuteronomy 18:20-22
"But the prophet who presumes to speak a word in My name, which I have not commanded him to speak, or who speaks in the name of other gods, that prophet shall die. And if you say in your heart, 'How shall we know the word which the Lord has not spoken?'— when a prophet speaks in the name of the Lord, if the thing does not follow or come to pass, that is the thing which the Lord has not spoken; the prophet has spoken it presumptuously; you shall not be afraid of him."
— NKJV
God sets the standard for prophetic claims: they must come from God and they must be verifiable. Howard-Browne claims to have cursed Zika away — but Zika declined worldwide due to natural epidemiological factors, not a prayer in Tampa. Taking credit for God's name for something He did not command you to do is the definition of speaking 'presumptuously.'
Jeremiah 14:14
"And the Lord said to me, 'The prophets prophesy lies in My name. I have not sent them, commanded them, nor spoken to them; they prophesy to you a false vision, divination, a worthless thing, and the deceit of their heart.'"
— NKJV
God condemns prophets who make claims in His name that He never authorized. Claiming to curse a virus away in Jesus' name, when the virus declined for natural medical reasons worldwide, is exactly what Jeremiah describes: 'the deceit of their heart' presented as divine action.
Matthew 7:22-23
"Many will say to Me in that day, 'Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?' And then I will declare to them, 'I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!'"
— NKJV
Jesus warns that claiming to have done miracles in His name is not evidence of a genuine relationship with God. Many will claim prophetic authority and supernatural feats on judgment day, and Jesus will say 'I never knew you.' Howard-Browne's boast about cursing Zika fits this pattern — bold claims of supernatural power that serve to build the preacher's reputation rather than point to Christ.
