Denial of the CrossMyles Munroe

Myles Munroe's 'The Good News Is Not Jesus'

Is this teaching biblical?

Myles Munroe explicitly stated 'the good news is not Jesus,' told followers not to talk about 'blood on the cross,' and said people should preach dominion instead of Christ crucified. This is a direct denial of the apostolic gospel. Paul declared the cross is 'the power of God,' resolved to preach 'nothing except Christ crucified,' and said 'God forbid that I should boast except in the cross.' Munroe's teaching is the exact spirit Paul warned about — those who are 'enemies of the cross of Christ.'

What did Myles Munroe say?

"People ain't worrying about no blood on the cross... you don't want be talking about blood in the boardroom... The good news is not Jesus."

What does Scripture actually teach?

1 Corinthians 1:17-18

"For Christ did not send me to baptize, but to preach the gospel, not with wisdom of words, lest the cross of Christ should be made of no effect. For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God."

NKJV

Paul's mission was to preach the gospel — and the gospel IS the cross. The message of the cross is 'the power of God' to those being saved. Munroe says don't talk about blood on the cross; Paul says the cross IS the power. Munroe's teaching makes the cross 'of no effect' — the exact thing Paul said he was sent to prevent.

1 Corinthians 2:2

"For I determined not to know anything among you except Jesus Christ and Him crucified."

NKJV

Paul deliberately limited his message to 'Jesus Christ and Him crucified.' Not dominion, not kingdom principles, not self-empowerment — Christ crucified. Munroe says 'the good news is not Jesus.' Paul says the good news is NOTHING BUT Jesus. These positions are irreconcilable — one is apostolic, the other is antichrist.

Galatians 6:14

"But God forbid that I should boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world."

NKJV

Paul's only boast was the cross. Munroe says don't mention blood in the boardroom. Paul says the cross is ALL he boasts about — in every context. The cross puts the world to death and puts the believer to death to the world. Munroe's dominion theology does the opposite — it makes believers rulers of this world.

Philippians 3:18-19

"For many walk, of whom I have told you often, and now tell you even weeping, that they are the enemies of the cross of Christ: whose end is destruction, whose god is their belly, and whose glory is in their shame—who set their mind on earthly things."

NKJV

Paul describes 'enemies of the cross of Christ' — those who set their mind on earthly things. Munroe's entire theology replaces the cross with earthly dominion, finances, and circumstances. He explicitly told people not to preach the cross. Paul calls such teachers enemies of the cross, weeping as he writes.
