Uses the ordinary biblical title of pastor. Does not style himself apostle, prophet, bishop or 'man of God' with special access, and does not claim an office conferring authority over other churches. He planted 2819 Church himself rather than being sent out by an existing eldership; the congregation's formal accountability structure — elders, board, outside oversight — is not documented in public sources we could verify at the time of this review. His wife Lena serves as co-pastor with administrative responsibility, a structure readers holding a complementarian view of the pastoral office will want to weigh for themselves.

Preaches sin, repentance, holiness and the coming judgement of God, and openly criticises a preaching diet of love and grace that never names wrath or hell — he has characterised watered-down preaching as a 'cotton candy gospel' that is killing the church. His most-watched message, an exposition of Matthew 18 urging hearers to stop treating sin casually, has passed two million views. The call is to surrender and obedience to Christ rather than to self-improvement, personal breakthrough or material increase. We found no teaching of the health-and-wealth gospel, positive confession, or the 'little gods' doctrine.

No allegation of financial, moral or doctrinal scandal has surfaced against Mitchell. He is candid about his own criminal past rather than mythologising it, and has been married to the same wife since 2004. Two honest caveats: the ministry is young — planted January 2023 — so there is not yet a long track record to judge, and rapid growth plus a very large social platform is precisely the environment in which character is tested. In April 2025 a sermon urging Black parents to teach their children to submit to police drew substantial public criticism, including from Christians, for not reckoning with the history of police violence against Black Americans. Mitchell publicly apologised within days, stating that he recognised he had caused harm and that the framing he used 'was and is harmful' — while maintaining that his larger point concerned submission to God. We regard the original remarks as a disputed application of Romans 13 rather than a doctrinal error, and we weigh the retraction as evidence in his favour: a man who can be corrected in public is behaving like a shepherd, not a brand. Some of those he offended did not find the apology sufficient, and we note that too.

Preaching is built on the biblical text and applied to the conscience; the authority appealed to is Scripture, not private revelation. He does not deliver personal prophecies over individuals, sell prophetic words, or claim new doctrine. His 2018 Israel experience is presented as a personal turning point, not as revelation binding on anyone else. Critics have challenged some of his statements about the end times and world events as historically loose; readers should test those specific claims, as they would any preacher's, against the text itself.

We found no evidence of seed-faith appeals, prophetic-blessing sales, prosperity fundraising or high-pressure giving, and no reporting of private-jet or luxury spending. We also could not confirm the positive case: at the time of this review we could not verify audited financial statements, ECFA membership, published salary policy or a compensation-setting process independent of the pastor. This point is recorded as unverified rather than as a pass, and will be revised when documentation is available either way.
